CBT Cognitive behavioral therapy, or CBT, is a short-term therapy technique that can help people find new ways to behave by changing their thought patterns. CBT uses various methodologies to identify cognitive distortions in your thinking and replaces those with your new found truth. Engaging with CBT can help people reduce stress, cope with complicated relationships, deal with grief, phobias, ideas around substance use/relapse prevention and many other common life challenges. CBT is tool based and homework heavy and has a learning curve but can be effective. CBT does not focus on the past and is often time limited.
